Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What kind of music do you play?

A. Shajar Orchestra is an extremely versatile group of singers and musicians.  We play all kinds of music, and our repertoire is huge, mainly American, Latin and Israeli Music, but we prepare a special selection of songs for each party, according to the mix of ethnic groups, age groups and individual preferences.

Q. Can we choose songs?

A. Absolutely. We have a HUGE song-list where you’ll find tons of great party songs.

Q. Can we request songs not included in the list?

A. Of Course. The list is pretty big, but it has been reduced to include only the most requested songs. If you don't find a song you're interested in, please ask us.

Q. How many members in the band?

A. Shajar Orchestra plays in different sizes, depending on the needs of each party. The average size for a party of 200 Guests is 10 pieces, which include 2 female singers, and 8 musicians (2 of the musicians are also male vocalists).

Q. What is the instrumentation?

A. Our 10 Piece Band includes:

 1. Female Vocalist

 2. Female Vocalist

 3. Guitar, Vocals & M.C.

 4. Keyboards

 5. Bass

 6. Drums

 7. Congas & Percussion

 8. Tenor Saxophone & Flute

 9. Trumpet & Vocals

10. Trombone

Q. How much stage space does a 10-Piece Band need?

A. We usually request a 12’ x 24’ Stage. That’s enough room for a 10 to 12 Piece Band plus all the Instruments and the Sound System.

Q. When do you suggest a bigger band?

A. In situations when there is a need for a "Big Band Sound", and other situations where specific instruments are necessary for different ethnic types of music, like Percussion for Latin Music, Brass Instruments for Swing/Big band, a Clarinet, Trumpet or Violin for Klezmer, for examples.

Q. What is the "Big Band" size for Shajar Orchestra?

A. For a really powerful sound, we suggest between 12 and 15 pieces.

Here’s the instrumentation for a 15 piece band:

 1. Female Vocalist
